Computers A Fast-Growing Career Field

If you are interested in a career in computers, you will be pleased to know that computer technology is one of the fastest-growing employment opportunities today. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, computer-related professions are expected to experience rapid growth over the next ten years and well into the future. When you look at the top 10 fastest-growing professions, five are related to computers.

After completing a few months or years of computer education, you could qualify for many top careers. There really is no limit to computer professions, as there are numerous individual positions to which you can aspire.

There are lots of computer-related jobs to whet your appetite. At the top of the USDL list you will find network systems analysts and data communications analysts. Both of these professions will usually require a minimum of a bachelor's degree with a concentration on Network Systems or Database Technology. However, a diploma, certificate or associate degree may be sufficient for some employers.

Computer Software Engineers are also currently in great demand. These professionals are experts in either systems software or they are trained specialists in the applications of computer software. Software engineering is a very lucrative field. With a bachelor's degree in software engineering you could soon be earning a salary in the range of $50,000 per year.

You can find computer courses in vocational and trade schools, and community colleges. Depending on the individual school, you can obtain a diploma, certificate or associate degree. Bachelor degrees and master degrees are offered by four-year colleges and universities. Studies could include Computer Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Information Systems Management, and many others. A master's degree in Computer Science would assist you in finding more employment opportunities and a higher salary range.
